Crystal China or Crystal Beaches?
If we are going to be completely honest, one of the best things about getting engaged is......the wedding showers!!!!! Yes, marrying the love of your life is pretty awesome, too. But let me tell you, both of you will be pretty ecstatic about all of the nice gifts you will receive.
Just like with fashion, cars, and music, the way we register for wedding gifts has also changed over the years. Today, more people have a lot of the plates, appliances, and general household items that we typically register for. And that has definitely changed from 40+ years ago when China sets were one of the ONLY things you registered for.
Because of this great progression, you can now register your honeymoon. Let me say that one more time...
You can register your honeymoon!!!!!
I think this is one of the greatest things to happen to wedding registry. Here, I want to introduce you to some of the ways you can register your honeymoon.
1. Honeymoon Wishes https://www.honeymoonwishes.com/
It is basically GoFundMe but for honeymoons. You first need to create an account. From there, you have multiple options for sharing your registry link.
This registry allows you to book your honeymoon through any means or person (*cough cough* Heritage Travel & Events) that you would like to. You can have the funds sent directly to you. If the person gifting you decides to buy you a honeymoon gift, you can have the gift sent to your honeymoon location.
Just like with GoFundMe, or any business, they have to make money. Whenever the person purchases a gift, a 7% fee will be charged at checkout for handling. For any credit card purchases, an additional 2.65% credit card fee will be issued, as well. This does kind of suck. However, according to their website, these fees cover their PCI compliance and insurance fees. This means a lot when you have people's money and accounts factoring into this.
2. Wanderable https://www.wanderable.com/
Wanderable is a little different than just simply "asking for money." Just like any other registry, you first create an account. You then start adding experiences or items to your registry. Guests can then contribute money towards the items, accommodations, or anything else that you put on your registry. So basically, people are giving you money to get the gifts or accommodations that you want. A few more steps, but it may help please some of your older guests.
There are fees for the credit card processing. A 2.5% + $.99 transaction fee is charged at checkout. You can absorb the fees for your guests, but I highly suggest just allowing that money to be subtracted from their total.
3. Traveler's Joy https://www.travelersjoy.com/register/
This is probably my favorite registry out of the three. Just like the others, you have the freedom to choose how and how you book your honeymoon. You can customize it with pictures of your trip or items you would like to purchase. You will be able to make a customized URL so guests can easily find where to gift.
There is a 2.99% + $.99 credit card fee. The thing that I like about Traveler's Joy is that everything is redeemed as cash for you. Once your gifts are received, it's up to you to determine how and when the money is spent, i.e. towards your amazing honeymoon experience.
The main thing that I like about all of these cites is the ability to choose. Whether you know what you want or where you want to go, you can go ahead and receive gifts to put towards that honeymoon destination.
Now, there are TONS of honeymoon registry cites out there. Before you decide on one, research and use the one that you think fits the best for you. I have just chosen the ones that I think are some of the best and user-friendly.
Regardless of how or if you receive wedding gifts, remember that this is a time of celebration and newness for you and your soon-to-be spouse. Whatever you do, make sure it is best for the both of you and make sure you both enjoy every minute of it!
